On January 15th,
two digital music platforms Kugou and Kuwo, which both belong to Ocean Music
Group, signed mutual sub-license agreement with QQ Music, and the total amount
of sub-license music works surpassed one million.
Through this cooperation,
Kugou Music and Kuwo Music will acquired the majority of songs that exclusively
distributed by QQ Music in mainland China, involving music of Warner Music,
Sony Music, JVR Music, Linfair Records and so on. QQ Music in return also acquired
most songs from Kugou Music and Kuwo Music. For example, Kugou and Kuwo are the
sole distributors of Taihe Rye Music, Ocean Butterflies, EMI and Seed Music in
Officials of Kugou Music and
Kuwo Music said, they hoped to promote music spreading through sub-licensing, and
improve the development and progress of the industry.
Kugou and Kuwo signing
mutual sub-license agreement with QQ Music means that there are only two major
camps of digital music battle in mainland China now. They are Ali and Tencent.
However, with the present pace of development and global trend, we predict QQ
Music and Xiami Tod will also reach an agreement on music sub-licensing. Let’s
wait and see.
