On December 5th, China Music Corporation (CMC) announced that R2G, part of CMC, built exclusive partnership with Imagem and INgrooves. Through Kugou Music and Kuwo Music of CMC, it plans to license and distibute over one million songs from Imagem and INgrooves in mainland China.
With the strategic cooperation with Imagem and INgrooves, both sides deepen collaboration in relative business such as indie musician promotion and music publishing. Based on excellent music contents which are provided by Imagem and INgrooves, as well as the integration and interaction among platforms like Kuwo, Kugou, Rainbow and Kuku music ecological chain, CMC will offer users with more music services. As a result, it could bring Imagem and INgrooves with larger developmental space and benefits.
The agreement also achieves a win-win situation. While music from Imagem and INgrooves enters the Chinese market through the largest music platform —- CMC, it would also serve to present Chinese fans with a number of new music.
CMC CEO, Xie Guomin said: “We are committed to developing a vibrant and healthy marketplace for music in China which will be of great benefit to artists, and we are delighted to have one of the world’s biggest independent music distributors, INgrooves, as our partner to achieve the goal.”
China Music Corporation (CMC) is the largest music platform in the world with nearly 500 million users. In 2014, it announced the integration among platforms such as Kugou, Kuwo and Rainbow. Also, the company has signed partnership with hundreds of labels around the world, including more than 80 companies of exclusive deals.
Imagem is a Netherlands based indie music company, with Rondor, BBC, Zomba, 19Musi, Boosey
& Hawkes, Rodgers & Hammerstein and so on. Their music includes that of pops singers such as Nik Kershaw, Pink Floyd, Daft Punk, and classic ones of Elvis Presley, Madonna Ciccone and Michael Jackson.
